ABC War Robot Head 1:1 Scale
The mold, which was taken from an original prop, was acquired by me from England. Unfortunately, the mold was not made professionally and therefore I am not going to do a few castings as I intended to. Watch the progress of this project on these pages. More pictures will be added, when I have time.
Materials I used: resin casting of the original head mold, plastic sheets (0.1 - 1.5mm), auto body putty, lots of model kit spare parts, super sculpey, aluminum and plastic tubes, superglue and zip kicker, bumper repair resin, different screws
The molds
Cast with some auto body putty applied
Sculpting the ears out of super sculpey
I had no mold for some parts of the Robot's head, so these had to be built from scratch
Creating the templesFortunately, I had some great reference pictures. These helped me a lot during the building of the temples using various parts.
Jaw modifications
I sanded the jaw smooth to replace the screws with real ones, because the lack of detail on the casting
Adding pistons
Aluminum pistons were added. These will later connect to the round moon shaped base. Notice the modelkit in the background.
Piston parts making
All the pistons and supporting parts had to be made from scratch.
